If you own the account
Only an owner can delete a business's account, and it is done on the CaterPad website. The phone app cannot do it.
- Sign in at caterpad.app in a web browser, on a computer, a tablet or a phone.
- Open More, then Billing.
- Under Cancel, tick the box that says "I understand the account will be read only for 90 days and then deleted."
- Press Cancel my account.
The account is then read only for 90 days. Everyone on the account can still sign in and read it, and you can export everything, but nothing new can be added. Your plan is not renewed, and if you are still on your trial it ends straight away with no charge. You can change your mind and reactivate from the same page at any time in those 90 days.
We email every owner 60 and 80 days after you cancel, with a link that downloads everything in one go, records and files together. Once the 90 days are up the account is deleted overnight, and it cannot be brought back.
What is deleted
Everything the business keeps in CaterPad: every check, temperature, delivery, cleaning and allergen record, every document, photo and uploaded file, the staff list with its training and fitness to work records, and the account's own history of who did what. Every person's access to the account goes too, and so do their sign in details, unless they still use them for another business on CaterPad.
What is kept, and for how long
- One line saying the account existed and was deleted: its plan and the dates it was opened, cancelled and deleted, with the business's name, number and address taken out. We keep it permanently, as proof the deletion happened.
- Billing records: what was charged and when. Our payment provider keeps the invoices and payments it handled, and we keep the payment notices it sent us. Both are kept for as long as accounting rules require. Card details never reach us.
- Our own log of the support actions we took on the account, including the deletion itself, so we can show what was done and when. It is kept permanently.
If you work for a business that uses CaterPad
The business you work for decides what CaterPad keeps about you, because the records are theirs, so ask the owner or a manager. They can suspend you on the Staff page, which signs you out everywhere and stops you signing in.
Records you signed stay in the business's records with your name on them, because they are its food safety evidence. They are deleted when the business's account is. If you are not sure who to ask, or nobody answers, email us and we will help.
Removing the phone app
Uninstalling the CaterPad app does not delete your account or anything already saved. Anything the app has not sent yet is lost with it, so let it finish sending first.
